Keep Them Warm: Blanket Distribution Campaign for Earthquake Victims in Turkey

Background:

On Feb. 6, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred in southern Turkey near the northern border of Syria. This quake was followed approximately nine hours later by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake located around 59 miles (95 kilometers) to the southwest. As of Feb. 9, at least 1,206 aftershocks have been reported.

The earthquake was the most devastating to hit earthquake-prone Turkey in more than 20 years and was as strong as one in 1939, the most powerful recorded there.

Campaign Goals:

Provide warm blankets to earthquake victims in Turkey to help them stay warm and comfortable during the cold winter months.

Raise awareness of the ongoing needs of earthquake victims in Turkey and encourage continued support.

Plan:

Work with local organizations in Turkey to identify areas and communities most in need of blankets.

Purchase blankets in bulk to maximize our impact and minimize costs.

Work with local volunteers to pack and transport the blankets to the affected areas.

Partner with media outlets to raise awareness about the campaign and encourage donations.

Launch a social media campaign using the hashtag #KeepThemWarm to encourage people to get involved and make donations.

Monitor the campaign's progress and make adjustments as needed to ensure maximum impact.
